I cannot say enough good things about Valerie Koeppen and Ramona Britt with Assisted Living Locators. I have now turned to them on two separate occasions to help find assisted living for two people who are very dear to me, under very different circumstances, and I am incredibly grateful for the care and support they provided. The first situation was urgent. An unexpected hospital discharge meant we needed to find an appropriate assisted living community very quickly. Ramona stepped in immediately. She was responsive, knowledgeable, patient, and helped us navigate a process we knew very little about at a time when there was already a great deal of stress. My second experience, working primarily with Valerie, allowed more time to carefully explore options. Valerie spent a tremendous amount of time getting to know the person we were helping, including her personality, needs, preferences, desired location, level of independence, social interests, care needs, and financial considerations. She identified communities we would not have known to consider on our own and accompanied us on several tours. What I especially appreciate about Valerie and Ramona is that they aren't simply trying to "place" someone. They know the assisted living and memory care landscape extremely well, and they understand that the right answer is different for every person. They helped us understand pricing, levels of care, services, and the many nuances of assisted living that are difficult to figure out when you're encountering this world for the first time. Just as importantly, they were willing to tell us when they didn't believe a particular community was the right fit. That gave me tremendous confidence that their focus was on the person, not simply making a placement. They also served as a much-needed buffer between us and the sales process. Once you begin contacting assisted living communities, the calls and follow-ups can become relentless. Valerie and Ramona handled much of that interaction and advocacy, allowing us to concentrate on making the right decision for someone we loved rather than managing salespeople. Their support did not end once a decision was made. They remained involved through move-in and afterward. Valerie even independently visited our loved one after her move and brought her flowers. Assisted Living Locators also arranged for someone to periodically call and check in with her. Those things may sound small, but when you are entrusting someone you care about to a new community and a new chapter of life, they are anything but small. Today, the person we most recently helped is settled, safe, comfortable, happy, and receiving the care she needs. And I still feel that Valerie is only a phone call or text away if a question or problem comes up. One other thing families should know: there was no cost to us for any of this help. Assisted Living Locators provides its advisory and placement services to families at no charge and is compensated by the senior living community or care provider ultimately selected. Considering the amount of time, expertise, advocacy, responsiveness, and personal attention Valerie and Ramona provided, that still amazes me. Valerie and Ramona are kind, thorough, organized, knowledgeable, well connected, accommodating, and extraordinarily responsive. But perhaps the best way I can describe them is this: they don't feel like a referral service. They feel like knowledgeable partners and advocates standing beside you during a very personal and sometimes overwhelming transition. I have trusted them twice with people who matter deeply to me. Valerie was a blessing for my sister and I. We were helping my mom move into an indepdendent living facility and it was overwhelming. Valerie's assistence was key to finding the right place. She set up the tours, advocated for us and my mom, and  answered alot of questions. After we found a place , Valerie called to check in on my Mom. It made a daunting process easier to do. Valerie and Ramona of Assisted Living Locators of Columbia are amazing to work with. They go above and beyond. They are friendly and smart and very dedicated. Valerie walked me through every step and helped guide me to make my best choice. I highly recommend them to everybody who is thinking of Assisted Living for their loved ones I will recommend them to everyone I know!
